It's been a while since I posted the first installment of Stupid Husband Tricks on YouTube. This week, #VlogTalk gave me the opportunity to slip another one in...
If Chris's love of jumping over random stuff doesn't make us famous...my slow-mo laugh will. ;-)
What crazy thing does your significant other (or YOU) insist on doing even though he or she (or YOU) are not 18 anymore?
3) You made the cover of a tabloid. What did you do to get on there?
If I could, I would send Chris to his favorite place in the world for a week. I would go with him if he wanted me to, but my favorite place to visit is very, very different. This video shows why separate vacations aren't always a bad thing...
inspired by : 1) It’s time for an adventure! What is the best place you’ve ever traveled? Tell us a bit about it and show us what to do if we were to go there.
**I was not as sunburned as I looked, thankfully**

I promised friends on Twitter & Facebook that I would vlog myself using a neti pot if enough people expressed interest in it. I never defined "enough" because, honestly, I was gonna do it anyways.
I apologize for the wind noise, but, really, it's the visual you want, right?
I generally use 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of non-iodized salt in warm water. Many people prefer a mix of non-iodized salt and baking soda because it adjust the ph of the solution and may be more comfortable. Some people use water at room temperature, but I find that room temp water is not comfortable at all.
My own little testimony is that I have "dainty" nasal passages. I did not make that up, a former ENT specialist told me that. It's the only "dainty" thing about me, so don't judge. She also told me that I would continue to be plagued by sinus infections if I didn't have surgery or find something else that helped...like a neti pot.
Thankfully, the neti pot has worked. I still get sinus infections but it only gets bad enough to warrant antibiotics maybe once a year. I'm able to push through with a neti pot & pseudoephedrine combo and feel better in a matter of days instead of weeks.

Today is usually #VlogTalk day, but I did not choose one of the prompts this week. Another video opportunity presented itself and I am not one to ignore a wonderful gift when it is given to me.
Enjoy...
So, what's the dumbest thing your significant other has done lately?
It's Saturday...you need to find us...just stop by our house. We'll be watching football all day long. We might even be eating some delicious Lime, Apricot, & Soy Sauce Wings.
Unless, of course, we are watching from the STADIUM!

We are from The South, so college football is only slightly less important than God & family.
College football = Tailgating
Tailgating = Chicken Wings
Our friend, Crystal, found a recipe for delicious chicken wings in Gourmet Magazine (December 1999 ed) and cooked them for a party a few years later. Everyone fell in love with her the wings, so she shared the recipe with us all. It has since become a staple college football food for us and Chris is the master chef.
If you are short on time & delight in the pain of others, just skip to 2:50...
Lime, Apricot, & Soy Sauce Chicken Wings
Serves: 8 adults plus 10 children in appetizer portions (or just Dana & Chris)
Ingredients:
8lbs chicken wings
1 cup fresh lime juice (~10 limes)
1 cup apricot preserves
1 cup soy sauce
2/3 cup sugar
4 large garlic cloves
Special Equipment:
2 large disposable roasting pans
Notes: -We have successfully halved the recipe for smaller groups. -Watch the time during the second half of baking. We have used four different ovens, electric & gas, with this recipe & they all required slightly different cooking times to avoid "blackened" wings. -This particular recipe can be rather messy, so if you are opposed to using disposable roasting pans, please allow yourself several hours to clean, which is fine if you hate football.
1) Are you ready for some football? What is your favorite tailgating (or couch-watching) football food to make?

Yes, I'm a day late posting this & linking it up with #VlogTalk & #SummerSmashed...I have no excuses. I just wanted to read a book.
Anyways, Carri at Mommy's Little Monster Blake and Jessica at My Time as Mom have a bonus blogging meme this week to celebrate the end of summer by sharing our favorite summer drink recipes (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and describing how we'd entertain our friends, you know, if anyone ever visited us.
For starters, here's my Summer Drink Recipe:
Have you heard of an "Arnie Palmer" (or Arnold Palmer)? It's a delightful beverage consisting of 1/2 Iced Tea and 1/2 Lemonade. My favorite summer drink is a distinctly Southern version of this refreshing classic.
Fill a tumbler with a few cubes of ice.
Add an ounce or four (I have no clue, I just pour) of Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka.
Fill the rest of the glass with Simply Lemonade (I usually use their Raspberry Lemonade).
Mix well (you can shake or stir, it makes no difference to me).
This recipe is Mother-in-Law approved!
If you come to visit us, here's a peek at some of the excitement awaiting you:
*Bonus Drinking Game ::: Take a shot every time I say "so." **We didn't taste many wines & Chris was pouring his out like a good driver. ***We really don't like Chardonnay that's been aged in American Oak. Blech.
This week's VlogTalk email included the following prompt:
1) Get your song on. Karaoke, rap, country, rock, whatever you want as long as you are performing in front of the camera.
Chris & I have a rather extensive karaoke collection. We are currently on our 2nd karaoke machine. We bought our 1st when it became apparent that purchasing our own machine would be financially prudent. Previously, we had been renting professional karaoke equipment for parties at our (rented) house in the boondocks of Poulsbo, WA. Yes, we were party central.
Now that we are older and have a child and aren't renting, we are a bit more settled. Most of our karaoke nights are just the two of us singing our little hearts out. Here's a sampling of some of our greatest hits.
Enjoy.
Be sure to check out the other great VlogTalk vlogs!
This week, I chose the prompt 3.) What are you growing? A tour of your garden, flower beds, etc. I wanted to do the prompt about the story of our engagement, but it's a lot better when Chris & I can both describe it. I couldn't allow myself to only bring the funny halfway.
I have a feeling that the What are you growing? prompt was probably directed at people who have a more formal garden or at least an actual garden. We just kind of have stuff growing. Most of it is intentional. Some of it is just lucky to be alive.
Stick around for the bonus OCD footage at the end...

Well, I'm doing it again. I'm vlogging. Blech.
How do Elena, Jessica, & Kate keep pressuring me to do this? What's wrong with me?
Anyways, this week I chose 2) What is your makeup routine? Show us! (inspired by Daily Dose of Sugar Mama) for my vlog subject. Shut up. Stop laughing. Seriously. STOP IT!
FYI - adding a "film grain" filter to your finished video will help hide acne.
I'm also making an appointment for a little shot o' botulism in my face so I'll stop furrowing my brow so much.
Please let me know if you notice any problems at all with the site.
In celebration, I am posting my first vlog that I created under intense pressure from three lovely, ahem, ladies. Check out the link at the bottom & visit some of the other bloggers embarrassing themselves on video. Okay, maybe I'm the only one embarrassing myself.
